Introduction
Depending on their appearance, installation technique, wattage, and beam angle, various street light types can be used in a range of applications. Main streets, residential streets, road crossroads, plazas, parks, outdoor industrial and logistical areas, etc. are only a few examples of these applications. These days, high-energy-saving LED bulbs are made to take the place of conventional HPS and MH lamps, and LED street lights are becoming more and more popular. We think it’s important to consider aesthetics, wattage, light efficiency, light dispersion, certification, CCT/CRI, and other factors when building good street lighting. Your street light can win a project competition if it is flawless in a number of ways, and the variety of installation techniques greatly expands the scope of its potential applications. As LED technology has advanced in recent years, photocell and sensor applications have increased in LED street lights to produce energy-saving and semi-intelligent functionalities. Your roads, squares, and parks can be made very advanced with LED street lights and smart controls, and your city will look quite contemporary.

Various applications for street lighting
Roadway lighting
Primary streets, secondary streets, and other types of streets can be found in both rural and urban settings. Different street lighting conditions call for various street light types, wattages, and light distributions. As technology develops, LED street lights are becoming a more affordable and environmentally friendly alternative for roads and walks in urban, suburban, and rural settings.
Highway lighting
The expressway serves as both a route between cities and a route between cities and the countryside. There won’t be any non-motorized lanes for cars and pedestrians in this situation. Additionally, the expressway’s road surface is quite smooth, there aren’t any noticeable potholes, the state of the road is kept in good condition, and the safety factor is high. Street lights are therefore not typically required on highways. However, installing street lights on the roadway is not recommended due to the prohibitive expense. High-power street lamps can be used to provide the necessary lighting for cars to drive safely in the following exceptional instances, such as high-speed entrances and exits, bridges on high-speed routes, roundabouts, etc. We probably need to put flood lights instead of street lights for roundabouts. Additionally, the installation height for floodlights can be as high as 12 to 15 meters.
Lighting at intersections
In order to force vehicles to act quickly when they see possible risks, these street lights are frequently deployed at road and street crossings. To provide an even light and prevent driver eyestrain in this situation, LED street lights should be spaced apart. To provide the appropriate lighting for automobiles and pedestrians at junctions as needed, high mast lights can be installed.
Lighting in a square
People spend a lot of time in squares at night dancing, conversing, and playing, therefore square lighting has become essential. Squares are an important aspect of people’s life. Plaza lighting typically consists of LED areas and floodlights, but many LED street light manufacturers have also created light distributions that are appropriate for plaza lighting in an effort to lower prices and increase the breadth of product functionalities.
Lighting for parking lots
Automobiles have replaced other forms of public transit as the economy has grown. In order to make parking easier for customers, certain supermarkets, hospitals, and shopping centers will have parking lots. As a result, parking lot lighting is produced. In addition to protecting pedestrians, effective parking lot lighting also creates a positive first impression to safeguard your company. Parking lots of all sizes are illuminated with bright, energy-efficient LED post-top and street lights. Additionally, different parking lots call for lights that may be mounted in a variety of ways, such as straight-arm pole mounts, adjustable skid mounts, wall mounts, and others.
Outdoor lighting for industrial and logistical areas
We are aware that any sizable warehouse or logistics location has enough space in front of the door to provide easy access for vehicles. The presence of dark regions must therefore be avoided in this broad area at night in order to reduce the likelihood of increased danger and the driver’s blind spot. Additionally, the loading and unloading area needs adequate lighting so that the driver can be guided and so that employees can load and unload cargo with ease.
Non-motorized vehicles and lights for sidewalks
They mostly relate to the roads that are used by walkers and non-motorized vehicles. This kind of lighting is typically used in conjunction with road lighting. Motor vehicle lanes, non-motorized traffic, and sidewalks will be set up in accordance with the project’s specifications during the lighting design phase. In most cases, a light is placed to illuminate the walkways and lanes for non-motorized vehicles. To create a safe and comfortable environment for pedestrians, lighting is installed on such routes. Lighting should make it possible for people to move around freely, identify one another, find one another easily, and avoid illegal conduct.
Yibai LED Lighting provides different types of street lights
Nova Series LED area lighting fixtures
Nova series LED street lights are Yibai LED lighting’s most successful products at present and have sold nearly 500,00 units in more than 100 countries around the world since launched. The product adopts a module design, which is very conducive to the maintenance of lamps. Since the light source and LED power supply are placed separately, the lamp has a very good heat dissipation performance. The combined use of high-quality LUMILEDS LEDs and Inventronics programmable LED Drivers greatly extends the lifespan of Nova
Melo Series LED roadway Lighting fixtures
The Melo series street light is a new generation of street light from Yibai LED Lighting, which adopts high-efficiency LED chips. The Melo series luminaire can be equipped with Zhaga or NEMA socket, which is convenient for customers to equip their lamps with intelligent lighting control systems in the future. Meanwhile, the Melo family has a series of certifications, including ENEC, CE, CB, RoHS, etc. Besides, we are also working on the ENEC+ certification to meet the requirements of customer projects for this. Many customers currently choose this street light to bid on government projects, which is mainly based on its high-cost performance and complete certificates and reports.
Concerns from clients regarding streetlights
Power of the streets
In most cases, a significant consideration for LED street lighting is wattage. The more watts a street light has, the better the lighting impact when all other factors (light pole height, road width, light pole distance, boom length, boom angle, and distance between the light pole and the road) are held constant. But many people might not know how to pick the wattage of LED street lights. Yibai LED Lighting thinks there are three places from which to begin.
- Basicly speaking, as a lighting fixture, 100W LED lamps can replace 250W high-pressure sodium lamps. However, along with LED technology develops, they may eventually be replaced by devices that use less power. For further information, see “Several things you need to know about LED Street Light” for information based on the installation height of the lamps.
- Wattage according to the lighting plan. You can consult our associated Blog if you’re interested in lighting design of street lights, parking lots, industrial parks, etc.

CRI and CCT
The term CRI refers to a light’s quality and its capacity to faithfully replicate an object’s color. The CRI value at its maximum is 100. Typically, CRI70 can satisfy your expectations for light quality in LED street lighting. Naturally, we also provide the CRI80 option to more accurately depict the color of the lighted object. The relative color appearance of LED light sources is quantified by the term “CCT” (Correlated Color Temperature). The CCT reveals whether the light source is bluish, white, or yellowish in color. The Kelvin is the unit of CCT (absolute temperature unit). Warm is 2700K, neutral is 4000K, and cold is 5700K. 4000K, 3000K, 2700K, and even lower 2200K light levels are currently needed for an increasing amount of road illumination. This is because it is believed that low color temperatures have less of an effect on people, animals, and plants.
Certifications
A product’s certification serves as solid evidence of whether it complies with the relevant standard or parameter list. For instance, the most typical requirements for safety standards are whether LED street lights comply with CE and RoHS. Some European regions demand ENEC certificates, but others demand CB certificates. The associated reports for product parameters such light efficiency, heat dissipation, and waterproofing are LM79, ISTMT, and IP report. The most popular factory certification is ISO9001, but Yibai LED Lighting also offers ISO14001 and ISO45001. See the table below for various types of common certifications or reports.
