PLC system architecture

Power Line Communication (PLC) is a technology that enables sending data over existing power cables. This means that, with just power cables running to an electronic device (for example) one can both power it up and at the same time control/retrieve data from it in a half-duplex manner.

Details

  • Power line communication, point-to-point transmission distance is up to 500m, the total distance after automatic relay by the lamp controllers is no more than 2km.
  • Up to 500 lamp controllers can be managed by a concentrator.
  • The lamp controller can control lighting fixtures such as sodium lamps, LED lamps and ceramic metal halide lamps with power up to 400W.
  • It supports two dimming modes: PWM and 0-10V , reverse mode can be configured.
  • PLC solution uses the original power cable for signal transmission, no need to install signal lines.
  • Remote real-time control and scheduled lighting by group or individual lamp, remote control on the power circuit.
  • The alarm on the power supply of the cabinet and lamp parameters.
  • Remote lighting control of street lights, facade lighting, Tunnel, and parking lot with power cabinet.

How PLC lighting control system works

Think of a PLC smart lighting control system like a smart, responsive computer network that gives light. In general, the Yibai’s PLC control system connected lighting system consists of three main levels or layers: hardware installed in the illuminated space, software accessible via the cloud, and optional services from our company.

Hardware

The PLC lighting control system uses both lighting hardware and networking hardware. In illuminated spaces, connected LED luminaires, while sensors of various kinds collect data from the illuminated environment. Behind the scenes, lighting controllers and standard networking devices afford connectivity and integration.

Software

The cloud-based platform serves the full range of software applications for lighting management, monitoring, and control. Collected data is stored in the cloud, along with analysis and visualization tools for turning data into insight.

PLC concentrator
Concentrator, a communication bridge between the server(by 2G/4G/Ethernet) and LCU(by PLC). Built-in LCD display and smart meter, it supports 4 digital switches, updated by OTA, 100-500VAC, IP54.

 

Hardware-PLC Lamp Controller NEMA

  • Standard NEMA 7-PIN interface, plug and play.
  • Remotely turn ON/OFF, built-in 16A relay.
  • It supports dimming interface: PWM and 0-10V.
  • Failure detection: lamp failure, power failure, compensation capacitor failure, over voltage, over current, under voltage, leakage voltage.
  • Automatically report failure notification to the server and all trigger thresholds are configurable.
  • Support remotely read real-time status and parameters like voltage, current, power, energy, etc.
  • It supports recording total burning time and resetting, recording total failure time and resetting.
  • Optional configuration: RTC and tilt.
  • Surge protection.
  • Waterproof: IP65.

A lamp controller linked with an LED driver communicates with RTU by PLC, 7-pin Nema interface. Remotely turn ON/OFF, dimming(0-10V/PWM), data collection, 96-264VAC, 2W, IP65.
